Twitter announced plans to test USDC payments from Stripe provider

22.04.2022

Stripe, a payment provider for online businesses, has launched transaction processing on USDC assets using Polygon blockchain technology. The first users of the product will be the well-known social network Twitter.

Payments are based on Stripe Connect technology, which simplifies the implementation of online transactions. The company stated that Twitter uses payment to content creators from the proceeds of product monetization - Ticketed Spaces and Super Follows. At the moment, a certain group of authors will be able to independently choose the option of payments in one of the stablecoins.

According to the company's product director Esther Crawford, Twitter is the platform where people return daily to chat. Twitter constantly supports those who earn money and attract a different audience of users. The ability to transact through Stripe is aimed at the comfort and convenience of all social network participants.

The Polygon algorithm was not chosen by chance. The blockchain implies fairly low fees, while the speed of operations is quite high. Polygon has close integration with ETH and a number of other popular wallets.

It should be noted that Polygon is a secure L2 level network and independent sidechains. The main task of the algorithm is to scale ETH, reduce transaction fees, and provide users with high processing speed.

Stripe announced its plans to expand support for other coins. Moreover, by the end of this year, the company will implement digital payment support for 120 countries. The provider has previously reported support for a number of crypto platforms and NFT markets.
